Greensboro Swarm News Release

(Greensboro, NC) - Kobi Simmons improved on his regular season-high in points but it was not enough for the Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, who fell to the Salt Lake City Stars (Utah Jazz affiliate) 124-117 on Wednesday evening at the Novant Health Fieldhouse.

Both teams entered the contest riding the momentum of four consecutive wins. In a back-and-forth opening half, the Swarm and Stars traded the lead seven times, with neither team possessing a lead greater than nine points. Salt Lake City drew ahead at the midway break with a narrow two-point lead.

Following halftime, the Stars extended its lead to 19 points over the Swarm. Salt Lake City saw strong performances by a myriad of players. In total, seven Stars had double-digit point performances: Tyler Cook (24), Johnny Juzang (23), Frank Jackson (19), Elijah Cain (15), Jeenathan Williams (13), E.J. Anosike (12) and Isaiah Miller (12). Jackson was named the NBA G League Player of the Week amid Salt Lake City's recent winning streak.

Despite trailing by 14 points, Greensboro showcased resilience and attempted a comeback in the fourth quarter. Ultimately falling short, the Swarm drew even with the Stars for the first time since the opening quarters. Simmons, who was coming off a season-best 29 points in a victory against the Windy City Bulls, was full speed ahead for Greensboro. In the second half, Simmons recorded 23 points en route to a new season-high of 30 points.

In addition to Simmons' standout night, Xavier Sneed accounted for 20 points while Kai Jones picked up his fourth double-double of the season 19 points and 12 rebounds.

The Swarm will be back at the Novant Health Fieldhouse on Friday, February 10, to take on the Ft. Wayne Mad Ants (Indiana Pacers affiliate) and celebrate HBCU Night.
