Green Bay Rockers News Release
Ashwaubenon, WI - After falling to Madison 13-4 in the opening game of the double header, the Booyah responded by winning in walk-off fashion, 9-8, over the Mallards to cap off the evening.
In game two, the Booyah quickly trailed 4-0 heading into the bottom half of the third inning. All of that quickly changed for Green Bay when Ty herrenbruck lead off the inning by getting on first after a hit by pitch. After Ali LaPread struck out, Cooper Morrison doubled off the wall, putting runners on second and third. Jacob Buchberger, who had a solo home run in game one, brought in Herrenbruck on an RBI groundout. After Morrison advanced to third, Jarrett Ford brought him in with a single to put two on the scoreboard in the third.
In the fifth, with the score at 5-4 in favor of Madison, Joe Mason dug in with Nick Kreutzer on first following a one out walk. On a 3-2 count, Mason delivered big time for Green Bay, driving the ball over the video board in right-center for a home run, giving the Booyah their first lead in the game.
After Madison tied the game at eight in the top half of the ninth, Mason stepped in to lead off the inning for Green Bay.
"I knew after that ball went out that I was leading off the inning and I just tried to focus on getting on base." Mason said. "I just had to lock it in and luckily I got a jam shot single and it started things for us."
With Mason on first, Chris Williams laid down a sacrifice bunt, but ended up reaching base with a single because of miscommunication on defense for the Mallards. With two on, Maris moved over Williams and Mason with a grounder to the right side. After that, Chase Hanson was intentionally walked bringing up Mike Ferri in a position to walk off for Green Bay.
"I was just glad to be back with the team and in a situation where I could produce for our side." Ferri said. "I'm just happy to be back with the Booyah."
Ferri delivered in a big way, singling right back up the middle to give the Booyah their 15th win of the season, more wins in the first half than the Bullfrogs had all of last season.
Green Bay heads to Madison tomorrow for a 6:35 p.m. start against the Mallards. Nick Riggle toes the rubber for the fifth time this season.
Capital Credit Union Park features over 1,500 free parking spots within a 5 minute walk. Visit booyahbaseball.com for details.
