Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
HAMILTON, ON - Mikhail Grabovski had a goal and three assists to lead the Hamilton Bulldogs to a 4-1 win over the Rochester Americans on Sunday night at Blue Cross Arena. The win was the 'Dogs third straight and improves their record to 26-21-1-5 on the season.
At 7:23 of the first period, Marvin Degon finished off a three-way passing play from Daniel Corso and Mikhail Grabovski to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. The goal, scored on a power play, was Degon's sixth of the season.
Dylan Hunter tied the game 1-1 for Rochester just 1:39 into the middle stanza with his 11th goal of the campaign. Hunter tipped a Peter Aston shot from the point past Hamilton goaltender Jaroslav Halak.
The Bulldogs regained the lead courtesy of Grabovski's fifth tally of the season at 15:22 of the second frame. Grabovski's unassisted goal made the score 2-1.
With only five seconds remaining in the second period, Eric Manlow added to the 'Dogs lead with his eighth goal of the campaign. Manlow re-directed a pass from Matt D'Agostini over the glove hand of Amerks netminder Adam Dennis. Grabovski also earned an assist on the 3-1 goal.
Grabovski capped his four-point night with another assist on Duncan Milroy's empty-net goal at 17:52 of the third period. Milroy's goal, the 72nd of his career, gives him sole possession of second place on the Bulldogs' all-time goals list behind only Corey Locke (75). Brian Swanson and Tomas Plekanec each had 71 goals as a Bulldog.
Between the pipes, Halak made 33 saves on 34 shots to earn the win and second star of the game honours for Hamilton, while Adam Dennis turned aside 18 of 21 shots for Rochester in a losing effort.
The Bulldogs were 2-for-6 on the power play and a perfect 7-for-7 on the penalty kill.
In his last three games, Grabovski has five goals, five assists, 10 points, a plus-3 rating, 10 shots, two penalty minutes and has been named first star in all three contests. He also has two game-winning goals in that span.
