Bulldogs Sign Defenceman Conrad Martin To A Two-Year Contract

HAMILTON, ON - Hamilton Bulldogs General Manager Julien BriseBois announced today that the Club has signed blueliner Conrad Martin to a two-year AHL contract (2007-2008, 2008-2009), and recalled defenceman Jon Gleed from the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL. The Montreal Canadiens have also re-assigned forward Mathieu Aubin from Hamilton to Cincinnati. Gleed will join the Bulldogs in Rochester today.

Martin, 25, who was originally signed to a Professional Tryout Contract (P.T.O.) by the Bulldogs on January 2nd, 2008, has appeared in 18 games with Hamilton, posting an assist and 17 penalty minutes. The native of Toronto, Ontario made his AHL debut on January 2nd at Rockford against the IceHogs and registered his first-career AHL point, an assist, on January 9th versus the Binghamton Senators.

Prior to joining the 'Dogs this season, the 6-foot-1, 215-pound defenceman appeared in 31 games with the Cincinnati Cyclones, recording two goals, eight assists, 10 points, a plus-18 rating and 68 penalty minutes. Martin has 35 points (6-29-35) and 173 penalty minutes in 101-career ECHL games with the San Diego Gulls (2005-06) and Cincinnati (2006-2008).

Gleed, 24, has appeared in 21 games with Hamilton this season, registering two assists, 13 shots and 12 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound blueliner, has also collected four assists, a plus-4 rating and 30 penalty minutes in 13 ECHL games during the 2007-2008 campaign. The native of Milton, Ontario, was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the 7th round, 212th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Aubin, 21, posted two goals, four assists, six points and eight penalty minutes in 20 games since joining the Bulldogs on December 17th. Prior to that, the native of Sorel, Quebec tallied 19 points (11-8-19), a plus-10 rating and 32 penalty minutes in 23 games with the Cyclones. The 6-foot-3, 204-pound forward was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in 5th round, 130th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

The defending Calder Cup Champion Hamilton Bulldogs return to action tonight (Sunday, February 17th) at 6:05 p.m. when they travel to Rochester to take on the Americans at Blue Cross Arena.
