Game Notes: The Rochester Americans kick off their second four-game homestand this month as they play host to the defending Calder Cup champion Hamilton Bulldogs tonight at The Blue Cross Arena. The 6:05 p.m. North Division matchup will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks.
Promotions: The game falls on the next installment of the Amerks' Supercuts $6.00 Sundays. All kids 12 and younger can receive a ticket for just $6.00. It's also Family Night. All Rochester area school children, teachers, school employees, administrators and all families can purchase specially priced tickets. Further, it's Wendy's Night. The first 2,500 fans will receive an Amerks folder. Buy one, get one free ticket vouchers are also available at any participating Wendy's Restaurants. Lastly, fans can head down to The Distillery at 1142 Mt. Hope to enjoy the official postgame party. Head-to-Head: Tonight's contest marks the seventh of eight scheduled meetings between the two teams this season. In their previous encounter, the Amerks defeated the 'Dogs in a 7-3 rout on January 12th at Copps Coliseum. Rochester is 5-0-1 this season and 60-44-8 all-time against the Montreal Canadiens' affiliate.
Amerks Notes: Rochester (16-32-4-4, 40 points) enters the contest after falling to the Syracuse Crunch 3-2 in overtime last night at the War Memorial at Oncenter. Andrej Sekera and Anthony Stewart scored goals for Rochester. The loss snapped the Amerks' three-game winning streak. The Amerks currently sit at the bottom of the American Hockey League's Western Conference and hold a last place standing in the North Division. Mark Mancari remains Rochester's top point-getter with 41 points (15+26), while Stefan Meyer and Marek Zagrapan share the team lead with 16 goals. First-year man Marc-Andre Gragnani registered an assist last night against Syracuse to extend his current point streak to six games (2+5). Gragnani's 33 points (6+27) currently ranks him second on the team and eighth among all league rookies. Further, his 27 helpers are a team best. Adam Dennis ranks seventh among all league netminders with three shutouts.
Hamilton Notes: The Bulldogs (25-21-1-5) are 6-4-0-0 in their last 10 games and have 56 points, placing them fourth in the North Division. Jaroslav Halak is among the top goalies in the league, having earned 11 wins thus far this season. His 2.26 goals-against average and .924 save percentage presently rank him ninth and fourth in the league, respectively. Halak also ranks 18th in the league with two shutouts this season. Hamilton's offense is currently powered by Corey Locke. Locke leads the 'Dogs in all offensive categories with 20 goals, 24 assists and 44 points in 50 games.
Next Game: Rochester remains at home on Wednesday, February 20th as it hosts the Albany River Rats at 7:05 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. The first 6,000 fans will receive light-up maracas courtesy of Time Warner. The matchup between the two New York State teams will be the second of two and can be heard live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks.
