
Gorillas Get Set to Host San Angelo Friday Night

AMARILLO, TX â One of the biggest games of the season for the Amarillo Gorillas takes place this Friday night when they host the San Angelo Saints at The Jungle in the Amarillo Civic Center, beginning at 7 p.m.
It's the first meeting of the season between the rivals and the Gorillas lead the Southwest Division by three points over the San Angelo Saints. Gorillas are coming off a 1-2 weekend where they were beaten by Bossier Shreveport Mudbugs 5-2 and the Lubbock Cotton Kings 5-4, but sandwiched in between was a 5-1 win over the Fort Worth Brahmas.
The Gorillas have an overall record 14-7-1 for 29 points, and have dropped to third in goals against in the CHL. Amarillo is still second overall in penalty killing and ninth on the power play.
Friday night's game is sponsored by Southwest Airlines which are celebrating their 25th anniversary in the city. It is the annual Teddy Bear Toss for the Evelyn Rivers Society. Fans are encouraged to bring a new or slightly used Teddy Bear or stuffed animal to The Jungle and when the Gorillas score their first goal, throw the teddy bears and stuffed animals onto the ice in support of needy children in the Amarillo area.
The Amarillo Globe News will be handing out t-shirts and Get Out Cheer Cards at the door and fans are encouraged to wear a white t-shirt to create white out atmosphere at the arena.
Tickets for Friday's game are available at the Gorillas Hockey Office located at 1934 Civic Circle off of I-40 and Georgia; the Civic Center Box Office, at Panhandle Tickets located at Randy's Music Mart, the WT Event Center in Canyon and United Supermarkets.
