Kings Sign Another D-Man

December 9, 2003 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Lubbock Cotton Kings News Release

LUBBOCK – Lubbock Cotton Kings Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kirk Tomlinson announced the signing of defenseman Jerry Galway.

"Galway has experience and a ring," said Tomlinson. "He had great college numbers as a defenseman and was an integral part of the championship defensive corps with East Coast Hockey League's Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies last year. His role changed last year, but we want him to be a playmaker again. I wanted to add more experience on the blue line and this is the best scenario for me and the team."

Galway, 5-8, 185 played college hockey at R.I.T. – same school as Mike Bournazakis and Rob Vessio. He tallied 37 goals in three years as a defenseman.

The Kings have points in four of their last six games and are one game over .500 in that span. With Jeff Dewar, Derek Holland and Steve Birch on the shelf, Galway is a much needed addition to the lineup, according to Tomlinson.

The Kings host the Odessa Jackalopes on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. and then travel to Albuquerque to face the New Mexico Scorpions Friday night at 8:05 p.m. The Kings return early Saturday morning and then will face the defending Central Hockey League Champion Memphis Riverkings on Sunday evening at 5:05 p.m. All of the games will be broadcast on Sports Radio 1340 KKAM.
