"Teddy Bear Toss" scheduled for this Saturday night
December 9, 2003 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
Fort Worth-- The Fort Worth Brahmas will be holding the "Teddy Bear Toss" promotion this Saturday night, Dec. 13, at the Fort Worth Convention Center in conjunction with their home game against the Indianapolis Ice.
The Brahmas are asking fans that come to the 7:30 p.m. scheduled game to bring new or gently used teddy bears or stuffed animals with them. When the Brahmas score their first goal of the game, fans will be instructed to throw their teddy bears or stuffed animals on the ice.
All the bears or animals that are tossed on the ice will be picked up by Brahmas' staff members and distributed at JPS Health Network hospitals and other local charities
All fans that bring teddy bear or stuffed animals to the game will also be given a ticket voucher good for one ticket to the Brahmas home game on Saturday, January 3, 2004 against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs.
Mike Barack, the Brahmas sixth-year general manager, is looking forward to the "Teddy Bear Toss" promotion.
"This is a really fun event," Barack said, "It looks pretty neat when all the teddy bears come out of the stands and onto the ice. All of the stuffed animals in the arena add to the atmosphere of the game and put everybody in the holiday spirit. It's a lot of fun, and I'm hopeful that the fans that do come to the game will be ready to participate."
Brahmas center Jeff Scharf shares Barack's sentiments.
"I've always like the âTeddy Bear Toss' promotion," he stated, "I've seen it done in other markets that I've played in, and it's always been pretty impressive. I'm looking forward to seeing our fans bring their bears to the game on Saturday."
The Brahmas, who enter this week with a 2-17-3 record and in fourth place in the Northeast Division of the Central Hockey League, will play at home this Thursday, Dec. 11 against the Oklahoma City Blazers before hosting the Ice on Saturday night.
