
Gordon and J.R. Towles Activated: Federowicz Recalled to Dodgers,

Shortstop Dee Gordon and catcher J.R. Towles join the Albuquerque Isotopes today, May 30. In corresponding moves, infielder Elian Herrera was moved to the temporarily inactive list and catcher Tim Federowicz was recalled by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Gordon rejoins the club after being optioned to Albuquerque by the Dodgers on May 27. He is batting .314 (32-for-102) in 25 games with the Isotopes and still ranks third in the Pacific Coast League with 14 stolen bases. He opened the season with Albuquerque before being recalled to the Dodgers on May 4. He batted .175 (11-for-63) in 19 games with Los Angeles and stole five bases during his big league stint.
Towles was activated and joins the Isotopes after being signed as a free agent by the Dodgers on May 29. The catcher was originally selected by Houston in the 20th round of the 2004 First-Year Player Draft. He began the 2013 season in the Cardinals organization with Triple-A Memphis and hit .237 (14-for-59) in 19 games. He has five home runs, 14 RBI and has thrown-out 30 percent (6-for-20) of potential base stealers.
The Texas native has five years of Major League service, all with the Astros. The 29-year-old backstop has a .187 batting average (80-for-428) in the big leagues with 11 home runs. He has tossed out 23 percent (22-for-94) of potentially base stealers.
Federowicz will make his fourth stint with the Dodgers this season, opening 2013 with big league club. He is hitting .176 (3-for-17) in 10 games with the Dodgers and .418 (33-for-79) in 21 games with Albuquerque with eight home runs and 25 RBI. The 25-year-old catcher has thrown out 41 percent (7-for-17) of potential base stealers with the Isotopes.
Utility man Elian Herrera has been moved to the temporarily inactive list. He leads the 2013 Isotopes with 55 hits and holds the active team-lead in runs with 32. The 28-year-old Dominican has swiped 11 bases, trailing just Gordon for the team lead.
The Isotopes take on the Memphis Redbirds in game three of their four game series tonight as they conclude their eight-game road trip. First pitched is scheduled for 6:05 PM MDT. Righty Matt Magill (1-0, 2.16) will take the ball for Albuquerque coming off of his first Triple-A win against Memphis right-hander Boone Whiting (2-0, 2.25). Albuquerque returns home for a four-game series beginning Saturday, June 1 at 7:05 PM MDT. Catch all of the game action on 610 AM "The Sports Animal" with Josh Suchon on the call.
