Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (March 6)-Goal horns could be heard throughout the Texas Metroplex Saturday evening as the Brahmas defeated the Rapid City Rush in a 7-3 blowout at the NYTEX Sports Centre.
Texas fell behind early in the first when Brett Jaeger gave up a shorthanded goal to Les Reaney, whose shot danced over the goal line at the 8:31 mark. The Brahmas came roaring back five minutes later when Nathan Perrott cruised in on Danny Battochio and slapped the puck home for the 1-1 tie.
The second period was an offensive outburst by the Brahmas as they recorded a season high five goals in the middle frame, beginning with a goal from blueliner Justin Kinnunen 45 seconds in for the lead. A hooking call on Rush defenseman Jamie VanderVeeken put Texas on the powerplay where Jason Deitsch deflected the puck past Battochio, ending the goaltender's night. Miguel Beaudry's luck didn't fair much better between the pipes for Rapid City when a shot from Texas rookie Lee Jubinville beat him glove high for the Brahmas 4-1 lead.
The Brahmas continued to attack and a slapper from the point by Kevin Seibel fooled Beaudry for his third goal of the year. A relentless Texas team ârushed' Rapid City with just over a minute remaining in the second when Jordan Cameron joined the scoring affair with an unassisted goal.
A seventh Brahmas goal came off the stick of Tyler Skworchinski, the seventh goal scorer for Texas in the game at the 3:17 mark in the final period. Rapid City hinted a small comeback with back to back goals, but it wasn't enough against a strong Brahmas team as the Brahmas won 7-3; tying their season high in goals. Goaltender Brett Jaeger stopped 27 shots in net for his 19th victory of the year.
The Brahmas wrap up their four game home stand Wednesday when they host their cross town rivals, Allen Americans for a 7:05 PM faceoff. With a victory, the Brahmas will punch their ticket for the 2010 playoffs. For ticket information please contact the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423 or visit www.brahmas.com.
