
Bucks Let One Slip in Shootout, Fall To Fourth

ODESSA, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Odessa Jackalopes 5-4 in a shootout Saturday night at the Ector County Coliseum. Laredo picks up a point in the loss but falls one point behind Texas for third place in the Southern Conference as the Brahmas won in regulation Saturday. Laredo falls to 28-19-10 (66 points)
Dominic Leveille scored the game-winner for Odessa in the 11th round of the shootout while Joel Martin stopped nine of the Bucks 11 shootout attempts to get the win.
Pier Pelletier stopped 45 of 49 shots he faced including eight of 11 in the shootout to suffer the hard-luck loss.
The Bucks had a two goal-lead with 10:17 left in the third period but Odessa battled back to tie the game and force the extra-time.
Colin Circelli tied the game at 4-4 with 5:48 left in the third after Mike Ramsay brought the Jackalopes to with one at 4-3 just under a minute earlier.
Laredo entered the third period with a 3-2 lead and Robin Richards put the Bucks up 4-2 with 10:17 left in the game as he scored his eighth of the season.
The Bucks were outshot in the contest 50-25.
The Bucks finished their sixth straight three-in-three with a 1-1-1 record (three points).
The Bucks jumped ahead of the Jackalopes for just the second time this season as they went up 1-0 just 1:35 into the contest. Igor Agarunov scored on a wrap-around try to pick up his fourth goal of the season and his first since February 20th.
Laredo was outshot in the first period 12-8.
Odessa would tie the game at 1-1 just 5:03 into the second period when they tallied a five-on-three power-play goal .
Phillippe Plante jammed in a rebound from the left side of the crease to pick up his 12th of the season.
The Jackalopes would take a 2-1 lead at the 12:19 of the period when Sebastien Thinel poked in a rebound from right in front of the Bucks net to score his 20th of the season.
The Bucks would strike for two power-play goals in the last 2:30 of the second period to take a 3-2 lead.
Darryl Smith tied the game at 2-2 with 2:26 left in the period when he jammed in a rebound right in front of the Jackalopes net. The goal was Smith's 31st of the year.
Smith would strike again when he poked in another rebound goal with just 10 seconds left in the second period. The tally was Smith's second of the night and team-leading 32nd of the campaign.
The Bucks were doubled up in shots in the second period as they were outshot 22-11.
