Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release

Comstock Park, MI - The West Michigan Whitecaps (2-2, 38-36) held the Bowling Green Hot Rods (3-1, 41-33) to just five hits in their 6-1 win on Monday night at Fifth Third Ballpark. The loss is the first of the second half for the Hot Rods and brings an end to their six-game winning streak. Todd Glaesmann had two hits in the defeat, and Cameron Seitzer drove in the lone run.

The Hot Rods fell behind early as two unearned runs came across home plate against Felipe Rivero in the bottom of the first. However, Cameron Seitzer put a run on the scoreboard for Bowling Green with his RBI-single in the top of the second. Todd Glaesmann began the inning with a single on the infield and came around to score on Seitzer's single.

With the Whitecaps proving to be too much to handle on Monday night, Seitzer's single was all the offense for Bowling Green. The loss brings an end to the team's six-game winning streak, which is tied for the longest streak of the season. The defeat on Monday night is the first time the Hot Rods have lost since June 14 when they also dropped a decision to the Whitecaps.

Felipe Rivero, who has now lost back-to-back starts to West Michigan, was the tough-luck loser on Monday. An early error cost him as two unearned runs scored for West Michigan in the first inning. Despite seeing his ERA fall .04 percentage points in the effort, the loss brings Rivero's record to 6-6.

The series continues on Tuesday night at 6:00 PM CDT at Fifth Third Ballpark as the Hot Rods take on the Whitecaps in the middle game of the three-game set. Bowling Green will send RHP Jake Floethe (6-1, 2.94), while West Michigan will counter with RHP Jeff Ferrell (2-2, 3.57). Tune in to the game on 1340-AM "The Ticket" and online at 1340wbgn.com. The Forever Communications Pregame Show with Hank Fuerst begins at 5:40 PM CDT.
