Gladiators winning streak at six games

The Gladiators used 37 saves from rookie netminder Sean Fields and Peter Flache's 4th goal of the season to knock off the Texas Wildcatters 4-2 on Sunday night in Beaumont Texas.

The Gladiators skated to a scoreless tie through the opening period with the Wildcatters as each team had numerous opportunities to light the lamp but both netminders turned aside all shots thrown at their respective nets.

Texas opened the scoring 60 seconds into second period as Brad Voth was able to beat Gladiators netminder Sean Fields with a snapshot for the tally. Dean Stork and Mark Wires added the assists on the goal.

Jeff Campbell tied the game at 1-1, moments later, jamming the puck past Texas netminder Phil Osaer at 1:30 of the second period. Peter Flache and Joe Bourne added the assists on the goal.

Gwinnett took its first lead of the game 4:09 into the second period. Cam Brown slid down the left wing and ripped a slap shot from 35 feet out that beat Osaer over the glove hand. Brad Schell and Ryan Van Buskirk added the assists on the goal.

Ryan Fultz second effort tied the game at two as the forward was able to roll the puck off of Gladiators netminder Sean Fields at 5:38 of the second period for the goal. Terry Marchant picked up an assist on the tally.

Peter Flache's 4th goal of the season with 39 seconds left in the second period regained the lead for the Gladiators. Lane Manson and Jeff Campbell picked up the assists on the goal.

Brett Engelhardt added his 13th goal of the season giving the Gladiators a 4-2 lead with 5:09 remaining in the third period. Engelhardt ripped a slapshot over the shoulder of Oaser off a feed from Goodjohn to pick up the tally for the Gladiators.

With the win, Gwinnett sets a new Gladiators team record for most consecutive wins with six straight and improve to 10-3-4 on the season.
