Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release
FLORENCE, SC -- The Pee Dee Pride lost their second straight game to the Florida Everblades, 4-2, on Sunday afternoon at the Florence Civic Center.
Florida took a 2-0 lead through one period on a pair of goals just 41 seconds apart midway through the frame. First, at 10:24, Brent McDonald took a pass from Steve Saviano and got behind the Pride defense for his fifth goal of the season. Then, at 11:05, Matt Hendricks found the back of the net for his ninth tally of the season.
The Pride pulled within one at 11:47 of the second period. Kevin Cooper blasted a slap shot past Craig Kowalski from the top of the left-wing circle for his fifth goal of the season.
But, Florida came right back with a goal of its own just 53 seconds later. McDonald finished the play, again off the assist of Saviano for his second of the game and his fifth in the two-game series.
Pee Dee made it intersting, pulling to within 3-2 at 18:51 of the third, as Tyler Kindle pinched in from the blue line and beat Kowalski.
The Everblades finished the scoring, getting an empty-net tally from Keith Anderson with 53 seconds left.
Pee Dee returns to action on Friday, traveling to Augusta for a 7:30 match-up with the Lynx.
