LONG BEACH, Calif. - Goaltender Brett Jaeger made a season-high 39 saves and Shaun Sutter scored three goals to help the Fresno Falcons win their first road game of the year, 5-0, over the Long Beach Ice Dogs at Long Beach Arena on Saturday.

Jaeger's best work came in the first period when he kept the game scoreless after Fresno was out-shot, 21-4, through the first 20 minutes.

The rest of the Falcons finally awakened in the second, out-shooting the Ice Dogs, 15-6, and putting three on the board. Dan Tessier deflected a Charles Simard shot past Long Beach goaltender Olivier Michaud at 2:01 on the power play before Sutter scored his first off a rebound at 5:29. Sutter extended Fresno's lead to 3-0 with the team's second power play goal in as many chances by knocking in another rebound to break the game open with less than 12 seconds remaining in the period.

Tessier stole an outlet pass early in the third period and fed Sam Ftorek, who proceeded to hit the crossbar before Tessier batted in the rebound for his second of the game at 5:09. Sutter secured the Falcons' first hat trick and his seventh goal of the season to finish the scoring at 16:53 by re-directing a shot off the stick of Simon Mangos.

Jaeger's shutout is the second recorded by a Falcons goaltender this year, coming on the heels of a 37-save effort by Simon Lajeunesse on Oct. 30 in a 4-0 win against the Idaho Steelheads.

Fresno's record is now 7-9-1 as the club captured its first road victory of the year in five tries.

The Falcons' next game is Tuesday, Dec. 7, when they host the East Division's Greenville Grrrowl at 7 p.m. at Save Mart Center. Tickets are now on sale for as low as $8 per seat and may be purchased directly at Save Mart Center's box office and all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 485-TIXS (8497) or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
