Atlanta Gladiators News Release

To Be The Best: Last week the Gladiators (17-17-5) beat the first-place Greenville Road Warriors three consecutive times. It's the first time Greenville lost multiple games in a row since November, and snapped a four-game winning streak for the Warriors against Gwinnett.

Coming Full Circle: Rookie forward Justin Milo was in camp with the Gladiators early this season before being released. After two short stints in Alaska and South Carolina he was picked up off waivers by the Gladiators early last week and wasted no time making an impact. Milo had the first multi-goal game of his career, scoring twice in the first period in Saturday's 3-2 win over Greenville. Coincidentally, the first goal of Milo's pro career also came in Gwinnett on December 3rd, but with Milo playing as a member of the Stingrays.

It's Miller Time: After a productive month of December (12 pts in 15 games) forward Tim Miller has caught fire to start the New Year. In the five games Gwinnett has played in 2011, Miller has five goals and three assists, and has scored in four straight games and registered a point in six straight. After going 13 games without a goal earlier this season, he now has 13 goals (5 assists) in his last 17 games.

Hey Now, You're an All-Star: Rookie forward Aaron Bendickson was named the Gladiators All-Star representative, and has been on a tear of late. In his last nine games, Bendickson has four goals, six assists, and is ninth in the league as of Monday in rookie scoring with 26 points (8 g, 18 a) in 30 games.

Forney on Fire: Forward Michael Forney has a seven-game point streak snapped on Saturday, but still has three goals and seven assists over his last eight games.

A New Streak: Rookie netminder Chris Carrozzi lost eight starts in a row from Nov. 25 to Jan. 2, but started a new streak last week. Carrozzi started three games in three days against Greenville last week and won all of them.

Leading the Pack: Forward Dan Kissel is 2nd among rookies with 114 shots on goal he also ranks 18th in rookie scoring (19 pts) rookie forward Danick Paquette leads the ECHL with 32 minor penalties, and defenseman Matt Krug is 3rd with 26 Michael Forney is 5th in the league with 25 assists.

A Full 60 Minutes:The score after the first two periods has been crucial for the Gladiators this season. Gwinnett is a perfect 13-0-0-0 this season when leading after two periods of play but the Gladiators are 0-14-0-4 when trailing after two periods of play this season.

Iron Men:Tim Miller and forward Andy Brandt are the only Gladiators to play in every game for the team this season. One exception: Since being reassigned from Chicago (AHL), Michael Forney has appeared in every game for Gwinnett after missing the first four this year.

Paq-Man Packs a Punch:Rookie forward and Thrashers prospect Danick Paquette is 2ndin the ECHL in penalty minutes (121) in just 34 games, and leads rookies by far in that category. The next closest rook on the list Cincinnati's Carl Hudson with 66 PIM in 25 games.

Rookie forward Justin Milo had the best game of his professional career, and the Gladiators hung on late for a 3-2 win over the first-place Greenville Road Warriors Saturday night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. Milo scored the first goal of his pro career at the Arena at Gwinnett Center back on December 3rd as a member of the South Carolina Stingrays, and Saturday logged the first multi-goal game of his young career in the same building. The Gladiators (17-17-5) got off to another sparkling start, scoring the first goal for the third game in a row against Greenville (23-9-2). Miller now has 16 goals this year and 12 in his last 16 games. He wasted no time opening the scoring with a shot from the near corner along the goal-line that beat goaltender Nic Riopel on the near post to make it 1-0 at the 2:46 mark in the first period. Greenville scored two goals early in the third to tie the game at three, but a Michael Forney tally later in the period sealed a 4-3 Glads win.
