
Cyclones Sweep Three-Game Series In Florida

The Cincinnati Cyclones swept a three-game series in Florida last week to improve their overall record this season to 14-13-7 for 35 points. Cincinnati sits in second place of the North Division, three points behind division-leading Wheeling.
Cincinnati opened the road trip with a 3-1 win on Wednesday. Dustin Sproat led the charge offensively with a goal and an assist while Marc Cheverie was strong in net turning aside 27 Everblades ¬â¢ shots.
On Friday, the Cyclones used a pair of third-period goals to edge the Everblades 2-1. Barret Ehgoetz tied the game just 15 seconds into the final period and Christiaan Minella tallied the game winner with just over three minutes remaining. Chet Pickard recorded the win for Cincinnati making 18 saves.
The Cyclones survived a wild back-and-forth affair in the series finale on Saturday to take home a 6-5 shootout victory. Matt Pierce scored a pair of goals for Cincinnati, while Brian O ¬â¢Hanley (1g-1a) and Mathieu Aubin (0g-2a) added two points each. Cheverie stopped 25 Florida shots in regulation and overtime, then stopped four of six attempts in the shootout. O ¬â¢Hanley notched the game-winner for Cincinnati in the sixth round.
Aubin and Ehgoetz, who both have been a part of Cincinnati ¬â¢s Kelly Cup championship teams in 2008 and 2010, share the team lead in scoring with 25 points each. O ¬â¢Hanley, who will represent the Cyclones in the 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic in Bakersfield later this month, ranks fifth among ECHL defensemen with 21 points (6g-15a). Cheverie is 12-7-4 with a 2.93 goals-against average and a save percentage of .904. The rookie goaltender is tied for the league lead with three shutouts while ranking fourth with 1,414 minutes and fifth with 653 saves.
This week, the Cyclones host Kalamazoo on Wednesday and Wheeling on Friday before traveling to Wheeling on Saturday.

Alaska's Goldie Continues Climb Up Career Goals, Games Played Lists

Alaska ¬â¢s Wes Goldie continues to move up the ECHL ¬â¢s career goals and games played list. Goldie leads the league with 21 goals this season, giving him 310 in his ECHL career which is seventh all-time. He trails Darren Schwartz by three goals for sixth place and is six goals behind Sheldon Gorski for fifth place. ECHL Hall of Famer Rod Taylor is the all-time leader with 368 goals in 678 games.
Goldie has played in all 32 games for the Aces this season, increasing his career number to 587 which is 10th on the all-time list. He is three behind Chris Valicevic for ninth place and six behind Kurt Seher for eight place. With 13 more games, Goldie will become just the fifth player in league history to reach the 600-game plateau. ECHL Hall of Famer Cam Brown is the all-time leader with 789 games played.
