Atlanta Gladiators News Release

A New ECHL Leader: Gladiators captain Cam Brown tied the all time ECHL games played record in the Gladiators 3-2 loss at Greenville on Thursday night. In the Gladiators 4-3 loss to Augusta on January 1st, Brown set a new all time ECHL Games played mark appearing in his 679th career ECHL game surpassing Rod Taylor's previous mark.

A Blanking! Sean Fields turned aside all 29 shots to record his first professional shutout in a 2-0 win over the Pee Dee Pride on Tuesday night. It was the second shutout of the season for the Gladiators who knocked off the Louisiana IceGators on November 26th at the Cajundome 7-0 as TJ Aceti picked up the win.

The Good One? With two assists in the Gladiators 4-3 loss at Augusta on Saturday night, Kris Goodjohn moves into the team lead for most assists this season with 22 on the year. Goodjohn also ranks first in points on the Gladiators with 29 off of 7 goals and his 22 assists. Goodjohn finished last season ranked 3rd in scoring with 59 points for the Gladiators.

Forget the 3rd Period: If the Gladiators hold a lead after the second period this season, it's been as good as a win as the Gladiators are a perfect 14-0-0 when leading after the 2nd period. The Gladiators picked up the win on Tuesday when they led the Pee Dee Pride 1-0 entering the third period before coming away with a 2-0 victory.

Looking for the Century Mark: Defenseman Rick Emmett is looking for his 100th professional goal. With 5 goals on the season, Emmett needs just 8 goals to break the 100 goal mark. He scored his 5th tally of the season in Thursday's 3-2 loss at Greenville. In his 10th professional season, Emmett has played in the United Hockey League, the International Hockey League and the ECHL. Emmett sits at 42 ECHL goals and needs 8 to break the 50-goal mark in his ECHL career.

On the Power Play: Despite not picking up a power play goal in three chances on Saturday night, the Gladiators rank 2nd on the man advantage in the ECHL, converting on 20.5 % of their power play chances, just .2% behind the top ranked Las Vegas Wranglers. Gwinnett has recorded 26 power play goals this season.
