'Blades sign d-man Tremblay

ESTERO, FL – Florida Everblades head coach Gerry Fleming announced today that the team has signed free agent defenseman Simon Tremblay to a contract. Tremblay will be in uniform for the Everblades game at Columbia on January 4.

Tremblay joins the Everblades after skating in 32 games and scoring 21 points (4g, 17a) with the Quebec Radio X team in the semi-pro North American Hockey League. The 26-year-old native of Beauport, Quebec spent last season with Radio X as well, and has combined for 64 points in 82 games over the past two years in the semi-pro league.

Prior to the 2003-04 season, Tremblay skated in 250 total games professionally in the ECHL and AHL, scoring 135 points. Most recently Tremblay split the 2002-03 campaign between Manchester (AHL), Reading (ECHL) and Worcester (AHL), spending the majority of the season in Reading where he saw action in 55 games, notching 44 points. Tremblay played in 65 total games in the ECHL in 2001-02 with Reading (56 games, 10g, 32a) and Greenville (9 games, 1g 5a). The fifth-year pro began his professional career with two seasons in the ECHL in Tallahassee where he combined to score 38 points in 72 games from 1999-01.

Prior to turning pro, Tremblay played two seasons with the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and three years at the University of Vermont.

The Everblades begin a four-game road trip on Tuesday, January 4 at Columbia, SC where they take on the Columbia Inferno at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday's game will be broadcast via the internet ONLY.
