Dayton, OH – The Dayton Bombers lost a pair of games in Trenton and Atlantic City before opening the New Year with a 4-3 win over Wheeling.

Tuesday @ Trenton, (3-4 L)

The Dayton Bombers dropped a 4-3 decision to the Trenton Titans in front of 4,606 at Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, New Jersey Tuesday night. MIKE SCHUTTE, JUSTIN KINNUNEN and SCOTT CAMERON scored goals for the Bombers in a losing effort.

Wednesday @ Atlantic City, (1-3 L)

The Dayton Bombers dropped a 3-1 decision to the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies in front of 2,761 at Historic Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey Wednesday night. Following a scoreless first period, Rob McFeeters took a nice pass from Paul Caponigri and beat Mike Ayers to give Atlantic City a 1-0 lead at 9:36 of the second period. The Bombers tied the game, 1-1, just 11 seconds after a penalty was called against Scott Horvath. SHAWN LIMPRIGHT came off the back wall and scored his 5th goal of the season at 15:09, and the teams were tied after 40 minutes. Back-to-back third period goals from Brett Peterson (1:14) and Jason Notterman gave the Bullies a 3-1 win. Saturday vs. Wheeling, (4-3 W)

The Dayton Bombers opened 2005 with a 4-3 victory over the Wheeling Nailers in front of 2,853 at the Nutter Center on New Years Day. The Nailers struck first when Pascal Morency beat Mike Ayers at 6:30 of the first period to make it 1-0. Just 65 seconds later JUSTIN KINNUNEN tied the game, 1-1. The only goal in the second period was scored by MATT HERNEISEN at 8:24, and the Bombers led 2-1 after 40 minutes. The Nailers scored a powerplay goal 63 seconds into the third period to tie the game, 2-2. HERNEISEN scored his second goal of the night at the 9:00 minute mark, and the Bombers never looked back. Ayers stopped Ed McGrane on a penalty shot with 6:24 left. Then, 61 seconds later, BEN KNOPP gave Dayton a 4-2 lead with his sixth goal of the season. Ray DiLauro pulled Wheeling within one, 4-3, but the Bombers held on for the win.

The Bombers nominated JUSTIN KINNUNEN for ECHL Player of the Week. The 23-year old Negaunee, MI native recorded 2 goals, 2 assists and 4 points in 3 games last week. Kinnunen registered 3 points – 1 goal and 2 assists – in a 4-3 win over Wheeling on New Years Day.
