DULUTH, Ga. - Tim Davison scored his second goal of the night with 1:39 left in overtime as the Atlanta Gladiators (15-7-2-0) defeated the South Carolina Stingrays (15-6-1-1) by a score of 4-3, taking over first place in the South Division on Tuesday evening at Gas South Arena in Duluth, Georgia.
First Star: Tim Davison (ATL) - 2 goals
Second Star: Alexandre Fortin (SC) - 2 goals
Third Star: Liam Kirk (ATL) - 1 goal, 1 assist
Atlanta opened the scoring just before the midway point of the first period (10:47). Liam Kirk ripped home a shot from just outside the faceoff circle to make it 1-0.
Tim Davison doubled Atlanta's lead just 18-seconds later to make it 2-0 (10:29). Davison burst into South Carolina's zone with speed and netted his third goal of the season.
Alexandre Fortin cut the Gladiators' lead in half early in the second period making it 2-1 (14:23).
Carter Turnbull drew South Carolina even moments later to make it 2-2 (13:30).
Eric Neiley gave Atlanta another lead late in the second period to make it 3-2 (6:24). Neiley was on the doorstep to knock home his league-leading 15th goal of the season.
South Carolina tied the game with less than a minute remaining in the middle frame to square things up 3-3 (00:41).
Neither team could find a winner in the third period as the game headed to overtime.
In the extra frame Mike Pelech picked the pocket of a South Carolina defender to feed Tim Davison in front for the winning goal (1:39).
David Tendeck made 39 saves on 42 shots in the win for Atlanta, Tyler Wall turned aside 30 shots in the loss for South Carolina.
