Gladiators Take Season Series Finale, 3-1

DULUTH, GA- With the score tied at one after two periods of play, the Gwinnett Gladiators netted a pair of goals in the third, picking up their lone win of the season series against the Wheeling Nailers. Gwinnett's 3-1 victory came in front of 4,661 fans.
The Nailers wasted little time in opening the scoring, as they took the lead just 54 seconds into the contest. Zach Hansen put a shot on goal from the right wing wall that was steered away by Billy Sauer. However, the rebound kicked out to Cody Chupp, who had little trouble depositing his fifth goal of the season. At the 7:43 mark of the first period, the Gladiators evened the score. Shane Sims fired a one-timer on goal from the point, and Pat Galivan got a deflection in front, sending the puck in past Peter Delmas for the power play goal.
After a scoreless second period, the Gladiators went on top at the 4:20 mark of the third. Colin Vock dangled low into the bottom of the left circle, then lifted a wrist shot into the top of the net from a tough angle. With 4:31 left in the game, Gwinnett added to the lead, as Tyler Murovich tipped in Will Colbert's shot from the left point, lifting his team to a 3-1 victory.
Billy Sauer got the win for the Gladiators, making 16 saves on 17 shots. Peter Delmas suffered the loss for the Nailers, despite stopping 29 of the 32 shots he faced.
This was the first time that Wheeling has been outshot all season.
The Nailers will conclude their road trip next Friday, when they visit the Reading Royals at 7:05. Wheeling's next home game takes place on December 3rd at 7:35, when they take on the Trenton Titans.
