Titans Hold off Jackals, 5-3

Elmira, N.Y. - The Elmira Jackals fell behind by two goals early to the Trenton Titans on Friday night at First Arena, eventually dropping a 5-3 decision. Andy Bohmbach had a goal and an assist in the victory for Trenton.

Bohmbach tipped a shot by Mitch Versteeg past Jackals netminder Brian Stewart to give the Titans a 1-0 lead at 7:40 of the first period.

Chase Langeraap redirected in a centering feed from Bohmbach minutes later, putting the Titans up 2-0 at 9:48.

Jean Bourbeau angled a shot in by Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel to put Elmira on the board at 13:23, bringing the Jackals to within a goal, 2-1.

Bourbeau helped the Jackals tie the game, as his shot deflected off of Caruso to Dustin Gazley at 7:08 of the second, with Gazley jamming the puck in from the right goal line to make it 2-2.

Rob Bordson backhanded a loose puck on a rebound past Stewart at 12:11 to give Trenton the advantage once again, 3-2, at 12:11.

In the third period, Ryan Hayes stole a puck at the Jackals' blue line, walked in on Stewart, toe dragged and then wristed a puck past Stewart's stick to extend the Titans lead to 4-2 at 8:34.

Rob Bellamy drove in a centering feed on a set up by Mike Ratchuk to make it 4-3, Titans, at 16:24.

Peter Lenes tapped in a pass from Matt Germain off of an odd-man rush for the Titans, giving Trenton an insurance goal and closing out the scoring, 5-3, at 17:34.

In net for the Titans, Dave Caruso stopped 42 of 45 shots, earning his fourth win of the season. Stewart fell to 4-3-0-0 with 26 saves on 31 shots.
