Gladiators Fall to Bombers 4-2

Troy, OH - Goals by Matt Siddall and Jordan Fox could not help lift the Gwinnett Gladiators past the Dayton Bombers in a 4-2 loss on Sunday afternoon at the Hobart Arena in Troy, Ohio. Gwinnett falls to 29-30-6 on the season with the loss.

After a scoreless tie through the first period, Gwinnett took a 1-0 lead on Matt Siddall's 17th goal of the season. Parked in the slot, Siddall deflected Jordan Fox's shot from the point past Dayton netminder Paul Drew for the goal. Pat Bateman also had an assist on the goal for Gwinnett at 2:45 of the second period.

Gwinnett gave the lead away as Dayton tied the contest at one with a shorthanded marker at 6:11 of the second period. Christian Gaudet finished an odd man rush for the Bombers beating Gladiators netminder Dan Turple from the right wing for the goal. Jarret Lukin had an assist on the marker for the Bombers.

Dayton took a 2-1 lead on the Gladiators on the power play early in the third period. Greg Labenski ripped a slapshot from the right wing point that eluded Turple for the marker. Joe Van Culin and Andrew Fornier had assists on the goal for Dayton at 1:56 of the third period.

Jordan Fox equalized the contest with his 25th goal of the season beating Drew from point blank range. Adam Berti and Matt Siddall collected assists on the goal cycling the puck in the Dayton zone to set up the marker. The marker came at 7:44 of the third period.

Les Reaney regained the lead for Dayton at 11:03 of the thrid period batting a puck out of the air in the slot and slipping it past Turple for the go-ahead goal. Matt Auffrey had an assist on the Dayton goal while Fornier added his second assist of the game.

Dayton added an empty net goal with 1:03 left in the third period to put the contest away. Nino Musitelli threw the puck into the empty net from just inside the Gwinnett blue line for the goal. Gaudet had an assist on the goal for the Bombers.

Turple made 28 saves in the losing effort for Gwinnett. The Gladiators went 0-for-3 on the power play in the loss while giving up a goal on five shorthanded situations to the Bombers.

The Gladiators continue the 2008-09 season on Thursday, March 26th as they travel to Charlotte to take on the Charlotte Checkers at 7:05 p.m. at the Time Warner Cable Arena. Catch all the play by play action on WDUN, News Talk 550.
