NORTH CHARLESTON, SC - Mark Rooneem scored a pair of goals, but the South Carolina Stingrays controlled the tempo of the third game of the three-in-three series as they defeated the Mississippi Sea Wolves 4-2 at the North Charleston Coliseum on Sunday.

Spencer Carbery got South Carolina on the board just 3:54 into the first period when he tapped home a back-door pass from Nikita Kashirsky on a two-on-one rush.

Travis Morin gave South Carolina a 2-1 lead when he redirected Lyon Messier's shot from the right point through the legs of Sea Wolves goalie John Murray at 1:06 of the second period.

Mark Rooneem drew the Sea Wolves within one when he broke into the zone and rifled a wrist shot under the crossbar and over the glove of Stingrays netminder Jonathan Boutin at 2:08 of the second period.

South Carolina answered back when Matt Scherer potted his 11th goal of the season on a feed from Carbery at 8:18. Rooneem potted his second of the night for Mississippi at 15:42, walking out of the right wing corner, making a deke that dropped Boutin to the ice, and firing into the vacant net. Just 64 seconds later, South Carolina closed out the scoring when Pierre-Luc O'Brien buried a shorthand breakaway through Murray's legs at 16:46.

John Murray made 36 saves to earn a loss, and the Sea Wolves were 0-for-5 on the power play.

The next broadcast of Sea Wolves hockey is Friday when the Sea Wolves visit the Charlotte Checkers at 6:05 CT, and will be heard on the B2 Networks and at www.msseawolves.com. The pre-game show presented by Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College will begin 15 minutes before the opening faceoff!
