Alaska Aces News Release

LAS VEGAS - Colin Hemingway snapped a 1-1 tie with 15:42 left in regulation, giving Alaska a lead it never relinquished in a 3-1 win at Las Vegas Saturday before 6,301 at Orleans Arena.

The Aces have won four of their last five games on the road and 12 of 14 overall to maintain a seven-point lead over Idaho in the West Division at 42-22-3. The Steelheads make up one of their three games in hand tomorrow in Victoria and can trim Alaska's advantage to five.

Alaska never trailed in Saturday's game, having arrived on an early morning flight from Phoenix. Luke Erickson scored off the rush on the power play at 11:51 of the first period. After the Aces saw two potential goals waved off in the middle frame, Las Vegas deadlocked the contest when Chris Ferraro rifled a snap shot past J.P. Lamoureux 3:44 before the break.

Hemingway's team-leading 24th goal of the season was set up by Erickson after a Las Vegas turnover in its own zone, and Scott Burt followed with his 15th of the year from the right circle at 11:47 to give Lamoureux all the cushion he needed. Lamoureux completed his night's work with 24 saves to earn his ECHL-best 30th victory of the season.

Alaska takes tomorrow off, practices Monday, and meets Las Vegas (31-27-8) again Tuesday night at 9:00 p.m. AT. Meanwhile, the Wranglers play at Ontario Sunday before playing host to the Aces Tuesday and again Friday at 6:30 p.m. AT. Both games will be broadcast live on KFQD AM 750, with Peanut Farm Pre-Game Show coverage beginning 15 minutes prior to face-off.
