Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. - Sean Fields stopped 38 shots to help lead the Gwinnett Gladiators to a 3-1 victory over the Bakersfield Condors in front of 5,499 fans at the Rabobank Arena on Saturday night.

Gwinnett put up all the offense they would need in the first period. Kris Goodjohn netted his 20th goal of the season just 5:39 into the game after Bakersfield turned the puck over at their own blueline. Connor James batted in his 20th of the season later in the frame to tie the game at one. But Libor Ustrnul's first goal of the season with the Gladiators broke the tie and was the eventual game winner.

The score remained 2-1 through the second period, despite the two clubs piling up a combined 28 shots on goal. But on their first power play in the third period Gwinnett opened up a two-goal advantage. Joe Bourne slammed a centering feed into an open cage for his sixth of the season at 7:58. Bakersfield could get nothing else past Fields, and finished their five game homestand 1-3-1.

The loss left Bakersfield in third place in the West Division as Long Beach defeated San Diego tonight 5- 2. Idaho sits one point behind the Condors in the standings in fourth place, as they lost 2-1 in overtime against Fresno

The Condors head to Long Beach on Sunday evening for a 5:00 p.m. match at the Long Beach Arena. They return home on Friday, April 1st to host the Fresno Falcons for the final time on the season. The first 2,000 kids 12 and under will get a Condors Mr. Potato Head, sponsored by 98.5 The Fox and Barber Honda.
