Atlanta Gladiators News Release

Sean Fields made 38 saves and Libor Ustrnul posted his first goal of the season to help the Gladiators past the Bakersfield Condors 3-1 on Saturday night at the Rabobank Arena on Bakersfield.

Kris Goodjohn opened the scoring 5:39 into the first period ripping a slap shot past Condors netminder Yutaka Fukufuji to give the Gladiators a 1-0 lead. Pat Dwyer picked up an assist taking the initial shot from the left wing circle as Fukufuji gave up the rebound to Goodjohn in the left wing circle.

Bakersfield tied the game up a little over three minutes later. Connor James was able to bat a puck out of the air past Gladiators netminder Sean Fields to get the Condors on the board. Dylan Mills' centering pass out of the corner was deflected in the air to set up the tally at 8:55 of the first period.

The Gladiators regained the lead at 16:57 of the third period on Libor Ustrnul's first goal of the season from the left wing point. Fukufuji came out of his net to play the puck but couldn't get set back in the net as Jeff Campbell and Pat Dwyer set up Ustrnul at the point for the go ahead goal.

Following a scoreless second period, Joe Bourne extended the Gladiators lead to 3-1 on the power play at 7:58 of the third period. Rick Emmett and Jeff Campbell pick up the assists moving the puck into the slot to a wide open Bourne in the slot.

Gwinnett went 1-for-4 on the power play in the win while Fields made 38 saves to help the Gladiators improve to 35-22-8 on the year.
