
Gladiators' Desbiens Named In Glas Co ECHL Player Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Gwinnett rookie right wing Guillaume Desbiens is the
In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for Dec. 5-11.
The 20-year-old had eight assists and 10 points, recording three straight
multiple-point games, and averaged over two points per game with a
plus-minus rating of +4 while helping the Gladiators go 3-0-1 on the week.
Selected in the fourth round (116th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft
and under contract to the Atlanta Thrashers, Desbiens got off to a quick
start to open the week by recording four assists, tying the team record, in
the Gladiators' 7-1 win over Augusta on Dec. 6. He followed up by scoring a
goal and two assists in a 4-3 win at Charlotte on Dec. 8 and had two points
(1g-1a) in a 5-2 win against Trenton on Dec. 9. Playing his third game in
as many days, Desbiens recorded an assist in a shootout loss at Columbia on
Dec. 10 to extend his scoring streak to eight games (4g-10a).
In his first professional season, the 6-foot-2 and 195-pound Desbiens is
fifth on the team in 18 points (7g-11a) in 18 games and leads the team in
the last five games with 11 points (3g-8a). He has also played one game in
the American Hockey League with Chicago.
A native of Alma, Quebec, Desbiens spent four years with Rouyn-Noranda of
the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League where he scored 141 points (76g-65a)
and registered 753 penalty minutes in 243 regular season games and 11
points (4g-7a) in 29 post season games.
On behalf of Guillaume Desbiens, a case of pucks will be donated to a
Gwinnett area youth hockey organization by In Glas Co, the exclusive
puck supplier for the ECHL.
In Glas Co has donated over 12,500 pucks to youth hockey
organizations in ECHL cities since it began sponsoring the award in
2000-01. In Glas Co also donated all of the limited-edition pucks
that were used during the opening weekend and auctioned off for hurricane
relief.

Corbeil, Augusta (4 gp, 5g, 5a, 10 pts).
