Atlanta Gladiators News Release

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced their potential ECHL South Division Semifinal schedules for the second round of the 2008 Kelly Cup Playoffs today.

The Gladiators will face either the Columbia Inferno or the South Carolina Stingrays in the Division Semifinals. Gwinnett is awaiting the conclusion of the final South Division Quarterfinal series - Augusta vs. South Carolina - to determine who they will face in the South Division Semifinals.

South Carolina is currently trailing its best-of-5 Division Quarterfinal series 2 games to 1 to the Augusta Lynx with game 4 tonight at the North Charleston Coliseum. If Augusta hangs on to win the series, the Gladiators will face the Columbia Inferno in the Division Semifinals. If South Carolina comes back to win the series, the Gladiators will face the South Carolina Stingrays in the Division Semifinals. Game 5 of the series, if necessary, is scheduled for Wednesday at the North Charleston Coliseum.

If Gwinnett plays Columbia in the Division Semifinals, the Gladiators will have home ice advantage for the series. If the Gladiators battle the South Carolina Stingrays, Gwinnett will be the lower seed and begin the series on the road. The two potential schedules are below:

If #3 Gwinnett plays #5 Columbia:

Game 1: Thursday, April 17th @ Gwinnett, 7:05 p.m.

Game 2: Friday, April 18th @ Gwinnett, 7:35 p.m.

Game 3: Saturday, April 19th @ Columbia, 7:05 p.m.

* Game 4: Monday, April 21st @ Columbia, 7:05 p.m.

* Game 5: Wednesday, April 23 @ Gwinnett, 7:05 p.m.

* - if necessary

If #3 Gwinnett players #2 South Carolina:

Game 1: Friday, April 18th @ South Carolina, 7:05 p.m.

Game 2: Saturday, April 19th @ South Carolina, 7:05 p.m.

Game 3: Monday, April 21st @ Gwinnett, 7:05 p.m.

* Game 4: Tuesday, April 22nd @ Gwinnett, 7:05 p.m.

* Game 5: Wednesday, April 23rd @ South Carolina, 7:05 p.m.

* - if necessary

The Texas Wildcatters, the top seeded team in the ECHL's South Division, defeated Mississippi 3 games to 1 to advance to the Division Quarterfinals and await the lowest remaining seed in the Division for its second round opponent. Columbia swept the Florida Everblades 3 games to 0 to advance to the Division Quarterfinals.
