Gil Transferred Back To Trenton

(Binghamton, NY)- The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that C Jose Gil has been transferred back to Trenton from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (Triple-A). The Thunder active roster stands at 24 players.

Gil has not appeared in a game so far this season with the Thunder or Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. During 2008, he hit .243 with a home run and 25 RBI in 73 games for Tampa (High-A). He matched his career-high with 17 doubles. He threw out 40 percent of potential base-stealers (25-of-63). In 2007, he combined to hit .234 with 40 runs, 12 home runs, and 50 RBI in 100 games with Charleston (Low-A) and Staten Island (New York-Penn). He was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Yankees 7/2/03.

Trenton plays the first game of a series tonight against the Binghamton Mets, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Mets. Game time is set for 6:35 p.m. Monday night's game was postponed because of rain. RHP Eric Hacker (1-0, 1.59) will start for Trenton against Binghamton LHP Mike Antonini (1-0, 2.79) Trenton returns home to Waterfront Park on Thursday April 23rd to start a four-game series against the New Britain Rock Cats, the Double-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins.
