
Curve Drop Opener to Reading 3-1

ALTOONA, PA - The Altoona Curve had their two game win streak snapped Tuesday in a 3-1 loss in the series opener against Reading at Blair County Ballpark.
Reading (7-3) struck quickly as Brain Stavisky tripled to bring home the games first run then scored on a single by Kevin Mahar in the top of the first. Reading would add to their lead in the third on a sacrifice fly.
Altoona would get on the board in the bottom half of the third when second baseman Jim Negrych singled in Angel Gonzalez on his second hit of the night, Negrych would finish 3-4 on the night raising his season average to .333.
Reading starter Tyson Brummett (1-1) silenced the Altoona bats that had scored 13 runs in their previous two wins. Brummett went seven and two thirds innings giving up one run on five hits with no walks and five strikeouts.
Altoona (2-9) will try to even the series Wednesday when right hander Brad Lincoln (0-1, 3.00 ERA) takes the mound against lefty Joe Savery (0-1, 3.60) for Reading. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 with radio coverage beginning at 4:35 on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network.
Wednesday's game will be a Win-It Wednesday with free scratch off tickets for the first 2,000 lucky fans presented by Professional Recyclers of PA.
