Chesapeake Baysox News Release
BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie Baysox are excited to announce Vintage Baseball Day and Sundae Sunday on Sunday, May 17. The events will team up to delight fans of all ages as the Baysox take on the Erie SeaWolves at 2:05 p.m.
Vintage Baseball Day will commence before the Baysox hit the field. The Chesapeake and Potomac Base Ball Club will play a three-inning exhibition at 12:30 p.m. The vintage team plays by 19th century rules using authentic replicas of 19th century equipment and uniforms. As was the custom in the 1860s, the club plays the field without gloves.
The Baysox held their first ever Vintage Baseball Day last year but the weather refused to cooperate. Bowie eventually played the Connecticut Defenders after a lengthy rain delay, but the three-inning pre-game exhibition was cancelled.
If vintage baseball isn't enough to draw fans to Prince George's Stadium, Sundae Sunday is sure to do the trick! Sundae Sunday is the second of the Baysox monthly Kids Club Events. Members of Louie's Kids Club and their parents are invited to an all-you-can-eat one hour ice cream sundae bar on the "sweet" level of the stadium starting at 2 p.m. Louie will surely stop by to see all of his young friends!
While all fans with tickets can enjoy Vintage Baseball Day, only members of Louie's Kids Club can purchase tickets for Sundae Sunday. Tickets for Sundae Sunday are $15 and must be purchased on or before Thursday, May 14. The Sundae Sunday tickets include the sundae bar and an upper reserved seat ticket for the game (regularly $11). Kids Club members can contact Dana DeFilippo at (301) 464-4871 to purchase tickets for Sundae Sunday.
Louie's Kids Club is FREE and easy to join! Fans ages 12 and under can sign up at any Baysox home game, or at www.baysox.com. The Baysox will host a special event for Kids Club members each month of the season and Kids Club members will receive a FREE gift for attending a game.
