The Kelowna Rockets fell 6-2 to the Vancouver Giants on Friday night at the Sandman Centre in Kamloops, BC.
The Giants special teams were the story of the night, netting three power play goals and a pair while short handed.
Tristen Nielsen (14) put the Giants on the scoreboard first with a short handed goal 1:52 into the game.
Tanner Brown (2) put Vancouver up by two early in the second, but Steel Quiring (2) cut the lead in half just over a minute later. Nielsen (15) and Sourdif (8) scored on the power play to create a three-goal cushion. Before the end of the period, Sourdif (9) potted his second of the night while on the penalty kill. Following the goal, Rockets starter Roman Basran was replaced in net by Cole Schwebius.
Adam Hall (7) and Kaedan Korczak (3) scored in the third period.
Basran stopped 16 of 21 shots first on him before Schwebius replaced him 34:53 into the game. Schwebius turned aside 13 of 14 shots. Colorado Avalanche prospect Trent Miner made 19 saves on 21 shots.
Vancouver outshot the Rockets 35 to 21.
The Rockets record is now 8-4-1-0.
Noah Dorey, John Babcock, Rilen Kovacevic, Ethan Ernst, Jackson DeSouza and Nicholas Cristiano were the Rockets scratches.
Kelowna will return to the Sandman Centre on Sunday to face Prince George for the final time this season, puck drop is set for 6:00 pm.

As the WHL returns to play in the WHL Hub Centers in Kamloops and Kelowna, no spectators will be permitted to enter Sandman Centre or Prospera Place.
