Peoria Rivermen News Release

Carsen Germyn scored twice as the Quad City Flames got past the Peoria Rivermen by a 2-1 count on Friday night at the iWireless Center in Moline, IL.

A fast, fluid first period produced a 1-0 lead for the Rivermen on the strength of Nicholas Drazenovic's unassisted goal at 6:04. Chasing a rolling puck through center ice, Drazenovic drove towards the Quad City net despite being wrapped up by Flames defenseman Adam Pardy, one-handing a shot past Curtis McElhinney as he swung the puck back to his right side while cutting to his left.

The Flames would come back with a power play goal in the second period as Germyn one-timed a pass in the low slot past Chris Beckford-Tseu at 17:22 to tie the game. Krys Kolanos and Grant Stevenson combined to set up the goal.

Germyn once again scored a goal from the slot, this time following a turnover in the Rivermen zone along the left wing wall. Warren Peters fed the puck across the ice to a streaking Germyn at 14:28 for the game winner.

Beckford-Tseu finished the game with 32 saves on 34 shots in sustaining the loss, and McElhinney made 27 saves for the win.

The Rivermen will now travel to Des Moines, Iowa to battle the Stars at 7:07 pm. Pre-game show kicks off with Tom Callahan on your Home for Rivermen Hockey, 96.5 ESPN Radio one-half hour before puck drop.
