Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
HAMILTON, ON - Corey Locke (2-1-3) and Daniel Corso (1-2-3) each had three points to lead the Hamilton Bulldogs over the San Antonio Rampage by a score of 5-2 on Friday night at Copps Coliseum. The win is the Bulldog's fourth straight and improves their record to 23-19-1-5 on the season.
After a scoreless first period, Daniel Corso notched his third tally of the campaign at 3:49 of the middle stanza to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. With a helper on the play, Corey Locke became Hamilton's all-time leader in assists with 124 surpassing Peter Sarno who registered 123 assists as a Bulldog. Locke is already the franchise's all-time leader in goals and points.
The Bulldogs added to their lead just 44 seconds after Corso's goal when Kyle Chipchura wired a wrist shot over the blocker of Rampage netminder David LeNeveu. The goal, Chipchura's third of the season, was unassisted.
On the power play, Jon DiSalvatore notched his 12th marker of the campaign to put San Antonio on the scoreboard at 8:27 of the second frame and cut Hamilton's lead in half at 2-1. Joey Tenute and Travis Roche drew the helpers on the goal.
Hamilton regained its two-goal advantage at 11:40 of the second period when Corso feathered a pass to Locke who fired a wrist shot from the slot past LeNeveu. The tally was Locke's 19th of the campaign.
San Antonio climbed back within a goal at 10:46 of the third frame when Roche scored his sixth goal of the season. David Spina and Tenute assisted on the 3-2 goal.
At 14:00 of the final stanza, Marvin Degon sprung Matt D'Agostini in alone on LeNeveu. D'Agostini made no mistake, pulling the puck to his backhand and sliding it home to give Hamilton a 4-2 lead.
The Bulldogs added another insurance marker at 17:01 of the third period when Locke scored his second goal of the game to make the score 5-2. Corso and Milroy drew the assists on Locke's 20th goal of the season.
Yann Danis made 29 saves on 31 shots for Hamilton to earn the win, while LeNeveu made 32 saves on 37 shots in a losing effort for San Antonio.
The Bulldogs were 0-for-2 with the man advantage, while the Rampage went 1-for-2 on the power play.
