February 8, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL) News Release
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League, in conjunction with The MeiGray Group, has announced that autographed warm-up jerseys from the 2008 AHL All-Star Game are being auctioned off now on theahl.com, with all proceeds going to benefit the Ace Bailey Children's Foundation, Good Sports, Shriners Hospitals for Children and other AHL charities.
The auctions, which close beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Feb. 12, feature the special jerseys worn by all 43 of this year's American Hockey League All-Stars during the warm-up skate at the 2008 AHL All-Star Game in Binghamton, N.Y., on Jan. 28.
Fans can click on the auction link on the front page of theahl.com to bid.
This is the fifth consecutive year in which the American Hockey League has auctioned off commemorative All-Star warm-up jerseys. Previous auctions have combined to raise more than $80,000 for AHL charities.
The MeiGray Group, the official Game Worn Jersey Source of the AHL, has sold more than 2,100 game-worn AHL jerseys to collectors since the start of the 2005-06 season, and many more are available for order at www.meigray.com.
Now in its 72nd season of play, the AHL continues to serve as the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. More than 82 percent of today's NHL players are American Hockey League graduates, and more than 40 million fans have attended AHL games across North America since the start of the 2001-02 season.
