Oshawa Generals News Release

The Generals fought hard against Owen Sound and came out with a 6-0 win over the Attack. Tonight was Oshawa's fourth away game of the season, giving them their second win on the road. Oshawa headed into tonight on a two-game win streak, and extended that by three.

Oshawa put the pressure on early in the first with a goal by Cole Cassels only 39 seconds into the game. Bradley Latour picked up the assist on Cassels breakaway goal, to give the Gens a one-goal lead. Kenny Appleby showed why he is one of the top ranked goalies in the OHL with a few huge saves in the first.

The Generals continued to bring lots of energy with a goal by Hunter Smith, with assistance from Cassels and Vande Sompel. Smith's goal marked his sixth of the season. Oshawa managed to get the first power play of the game after Vilardi of Owen Sound got sent to the box, but were unable to find the back of the net. The Generals kept the pressure on in the first period with a goal by Michael Dal Colle, from Lindberg and Cassels, making it 3-0 for Oshawa at the end of twenty minutes.

The second period didn't consist of a goal within the first minute, but instead the Generals got their turn on the penalty kill a couple minutes in from an elbowing call on Cassels. After fighting off the penalty, Owen Sound went back on a power play after Hertzberg went to the box for holding, but the Generals showed their strength once again on the penalty kill. A slashing call on Sharipzyanov gave the Gens a power play but a tripping penalty on Sterk made it four on four hockey. It wasn't long before the Generals sniped another goal from a shot by Lindberg, and assists by Vande Sompel and Cassels. Only a few minutes later, Lindberg got his fifth goal of the season putting the Gens up 5-0 to wrap up the second period.

The Generals looked confident heading into the third with a 5-0 lead. Only a few minutes in, Wallace and Carlisle got the puck to Desrocher who sniped one in from the point to get his first goal of the season. The rest of the period included two penalties for Owen Sound and one for Oshawa, with no goals scored. Kenny Appleby stood strong in net and pulled off an impressive third shutout of the season. He proved again tonight why he is currently the top ranked goalie in the OHL.

Despite a strong effort from the Attack, the Generals walked away with the win in Owen Sound. Don't miss the Gens in action tomorrow night, Oct.19 at 6:05 p.m. where they take on the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. We have another great night planned so be sure to get your tickets! Following Sunday's game, the Generals are back on home ice Friday Oct. 23 against Saginaw.
