Generals 4-0 against 67's

Ottawa, Ontario - The Oshawa Generals continued their dominance over the Ottawa 67's, defeating them by the score of 2-0 in front of a crowd of 2,748 at Scotiabank Place and making the regular season series between the teams 4-0. Daniel Altshuller made his 11th consecutive start for the Generals, stopping all 22 shots he faced in the victory. Boone Jenner scored both goals for the Generals giving him his 28th and 29th of the season (2nd in the OHL for goals).

Neither team could find the back of the net after 20 minutes of play. With the Generals getting back most of their key pieces, they returned to mid-season form outshooting Ottawa 16-4. John Urbanic, who was traded to Ottawa earlier in the day, had one of the best chances for the 67's to open the scoring, but couldn't corral the puck as it slid by the open net.

The Generals dominated the opening half of the second as they continued to bombard 67's netminder Jacob Blair with shot after shot but it wasn't until there was 4:17 left in the period that the Generals opened the scoring. With Oshawa buzzing around the offensive zone, Boone Jenner continued where he had left off as he scored his 28th of the season. Following his own shot on net, Jenner crashed the net and beat a 67's defender and slid the puck under Blair making the score 1-0.

With Altshuller frustrating the 67's shooters, the rough play between the two teams resulted in multiple co-incidentals, and 4 on 4 hockey. Ottawa's offense began to spark as they cycled the puck, and almost opened the game up on a Michal Cajkovsky point shot that struck iron.

With a minute left in play, and the 67's net empty, Jenner forced a turnover at the Generals blueline with an aggressive fore-check and after taking a couple of strides towards the empty net, lifted the puck down the ice and watched as the puck rolled into the net, sealing the win.

Oshawa finished on top with 34 shots to Ottawa's 22.

Boone Jenner picked up the first star selection.

Oshawa returns home to the General Motors Centre on Jan 11th as they take on another division rival in the Peterborough Petes. Puck drop is at 7:35pm.
