Belleville Bulls News Release
BELLEVILLE, ON (Thursday, January 10th, 2013) - In the moments leading up to Thursday's OHL Trade Deadline, Bulls Head Coach and General Manager George Burnett announced that the team has acquired centreman Alan Quine from the Peterborough Petes in exchange for second round draft selections in 2015, 2016 and 2018.
The move comes just five days after the Bulls brought in Tyler Graovac from the Ottawa 67's, further stabilizing their situation on forward.
"Our goal coming into the deadline was to address our offensive needs and we were fortunate enough to add two high quality players in Alan and Tyler to our lineup," said Burnett.
Quine joins his third East Division team after formerly being a second overall pick to the Kingston Frontenacs in the 2009 OHL Priority Selection. The skilled forward was then dealt to the Peterborough Petes in November of 2010 in a move that saw Ryan Spooner go back to Kingston.
In 26 games this season, the Detroit Red Wings third round pick has 9 goals and 17 assists. In his OHL career, Quine has 76 goals and 101 assists in 224 games.
"Alan is an elite offensive player who is a terrific skater, accomplished faceoff man and creative playmaker," added Burnett. "I had the opportunity to coach Alan in the World Under 18 Championships in the Czech Republic and he made a significant contribution to a Canadian gold medal there."
Quine was reached by phone following the deal and expressed excitement about the transition. "Peterborough has been great to me and I appreciate the time I've spent there. I'm excited to be put in a situation where I can go after a Memorial Cup Championship and play with some guys like Brassard, Curtis and Malcolm Subban who I've been alongside internationally."
Quine, who had a 30 goal season a year ago is an Ottawa native and is also happy to stay in close proximity to his hometown.
Quine joins the Bulls lineup on Friday night when they visit the Kingston Frontenacs at the K Rock Centre. Game time on Friday night is 7:00pm.
He makes his Yardmen Arena on debut when the Bulls host the Windsor Spitfires at 7:05pm. For tickets, call the Bulls Box Office at 613-966-8338.
