Gems Round out Regular Season with Wins

DAYTON, OH - The Dayton Gems played their final two games of the season at home and walked away with a pair of wins. Dayton defeated Quad City on Friday and Saturday to give the Gems a final record of 32-29-5.

With the wins, Dayton finished the season in the eighth spot in the Turner Conference standings and will take on the Rapid City Rush in the opening round of the CHL playoffs.

The series between the Gems and the Rush will start on Friday, April 1 at 9:05 p.m. in Rapid City. After two games in Rapid City, the series will move to Dayton on April 5. Tickets for the game on April 5 are on sale now at Hara Arena.

Watch Parties for the away games on Friday and Saturday night will take place at local restaurants in the Dayton area. Friday's Watch Party will take place at C's Pizza in Huber Heights while Saturday's Watch Party will be at Fox and Hound in Beavercreek.

Friday, March 25. Gems win over Mallards, 3-2

When the Gems took the ice on Friday night, it was the start of a two game home stand that would end the regular season.

The Gems started the home stand off on the right foot as they defeated Quad City 3-2.

Dayton jumped out to an early 3-1 lead in the second period and never looked back. Despite not scoring in the final period, Dayton still won and snapped a three game losing skid.

Tysen Dowzak, Chris Lipsett and Matthew Larke each scored for the Gems.

Saturday, March 26. Gems win regular season finale 6-2

The regular season came to an end for the Dayton Gems on Saturday night, and they couldn't have finished it out in a bigger way.

In front on 5,198 - the Gems' largest crowd of the season - Dayton never trailed once in its 6-2 win over Quad City. It was Dayton's second straight win over the Mallards.

The win also featured a pair of stellar performances from Chris Lipsett and Derek MacIntyre.

Lipsett recorded his second hat trick of the season. The last time Lipsett recorded a hat trick was on February 27 against Fort Wayne, when he scored four goals against the Komets.

The win was also the third straight great performance by Derek MacIntyre. The goaltender did not allow more than two goals in each of the last three games. He recorded 31 saves on Saturday.
