Rush Win Turner with a Strong Finish
The Rapid City Rush entered the final weekend of the season needing to win both of their games in Arizona and get a little help from the Fort Wayne Komets against the Colorado Eagles and both things happened. The Rush came back from a 3-0 deficit on Friday night to beat the Sundogs in a shootout by a 4-3 score and then followed that up with a dominating 5-2 win over Arizona on Saturday doing their part. In Indiana, the Eagles won in overtime on Friday and then lost 2-1 on Saturday opening the door for the Rush to win their second straight conference championship. The Rush and Eagles finished with identical records but Rapid City had one less win in a shootout winning the tiebreaker over Colorado. Rapid City heads into the post-season on a four-game win streak and winning seven of their last eight games.
Allen's Accolades Stack Up
The Allen Americans finished their remarkable season with a 5-4 OT win at Tulsa winding up with a 47-16-3 record. In their two seasons in the CHL, the Americans have posted an 89-33-8 record giving head coach Dwight Mullins the highest win percentage in the league's history at 0.715 (minimum of 120 games). The Americans not only captured the Berry Conference this season but also took the Bud Poile Governors' Cup with their 97 points. The Americans tied a CHL record by winning 24 games on the road this season equaling the mark set by the 1996-97 Oklahoma City Blazers and the 1999-2000 Central Texas Stampede. The Americans finished with the league's best power play at 23.9% and will look to make it to their second straight CHL Finals when they begin their post-season Thursday versus the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees.

By the Numbers
84- The total number of points the Odessa trio of Sebastien Thinel, Todd Robinson and Mike Ramsay scored during the month of March. The trio combined for 29 goals and 55 assists led by Robinson's 31 points (6-25=31) who finished the month on a 17-game point streak. Thinel, the CHL's scoring championship with 110 points (35-75=110), totaled 15 goals with 14 helpers in March and Ramsay had eight goals with 16 assists.
10- The number of goals that Fort Wayne's Guy Dupuis scored this season marking the eighth straight season the veteran defenseman has reached 10 goals in a season. Over the eight seasons, Dupuis has scored 104 goals.
+40- The league-best plus/minus of Colorado forward Riley Nelson who finished just ahead of teammate Kevin Ulanski (the 2010 CHL Most Valuable Player) who was a +37. Nelson was named the 2011 CHL Most Valuable Player on Monday earning 25 of the 60 votes cast.
9- The number of games the Texas Brahmas lost in their last 12 games going 3-9-0 down the stretch to finish fourth in the Berry Conference. The Brahmas led 4-0 after one period on Friday and 3-1 after one period on Saturday but eventually lost both contest (5-4 to RGV on Saturday and 6-5 to Laredo on Sunday).
7,460- The league-leading average attendance of the Fort Wayne Komets who finished third in all of minor pro hockey. The Komets had their second sellout (10,480) on Saturday during a 2-1 win over Colorado. The Komets had four crowds on the season of 10,000+ fans.
0- The number of times the Rapid City Rush lost this season when leading after two period going an amazing 29-0 in those games. Bloomington was the only other team to not lose in regulation when leading after 20 minutes but they did fall three times in OT/SO going 23-0-3.
One-Timers
-Texas forward Chad Woollard scored twice in the Brahmas season finale on Sunday finishing the season with a career-best 46 goals. The veteran ended the season atop the league's goal scoring list finishing six goals ahead of Wichita's Matt Robinson and Tulsa's Jack Combs. Woollard's previous high was 44 goals during the 2005-06 season while with the Quad City Mallards (UHL).
-Evansville's 3-2 shootout win on Sunday in Bloomington kept the IceMen from earning a spot in the CHL's record books as they prevented the distinction of losing for the 14th time in overtime or a shootout. Evansville finished the year 1-8 in OT and 3-5 in shootouts with their 13 OT/SO losses falling one shy of the CHL record of 14.
-The Colorado Eagles finished the regular season with a 40-22-4 record and amazingly you can split the records down the middle with their home and road marks both sitting 20-11-2. The Eagles outscored the opposition 125-100 at home nearly an identical 125-99 on the road.
-Dayton heads into the post-season and their Opening Round series with a five-game home win streak, tied for the longest active streak in the league (Bossier-Shreveport). The Gems finished their season with a 6-2 win over Quad City in front of a season-best 5,198 fans at Hara Arena.
-Although both the Tulsa Oilers and the Mississippi RiverKings were original members of the reformation of the CHL in 1992, the two long time rivals have never met in the most-season.
