March 26, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Dayton Gems News Release

Lipsett recorded his second hat trick of the season in the win.

The regular season came to an end for the Dayton Gems on Saturday night, and they couldn't have finished it out in a bigger way.

In front on 5,198 - the Gems' largest crowd of the season - Dayton never trailed once in its 6-2 win over Quad City. It was Dayton's second straight win over the Mallards.

The win also featured a pair of stellar performances from Chris Lipsett and Derek MacIntyre.

Lipsett recorded his second hat trick of the season. The last time Lipsett recorded a hat trick was on February 27 against Fort Wayne, when he scored four goals against the Komets.

The win was also the third straight great performance by Derek MacIntyre. The goaltender has not allowed more than two goals in each of the previous three games. He recorded 31 saves on Saturday.

Lipsett started the scoring off for Dayton in the first period when he gave the Gems a 1-0 lead.

Brandon Naurato lead the scoring off for the Gems in the second period, followed by Lipsett's second goal of the game to give the Gems a 3-0 lead midway through the second period.

Joel Gasper scored the Mallards lone goal in the second as the period ended with the score at 3-1.

Dayton simply went on a tear in the third period. Greg Labenski, Lipsett and Naurato each scored for the Gems. MacIntyre allowed his second goal late in the game as Dayton went on to the 6-2 win.

The Gems will now wait until other CHL teams play their final games of the season on Sunday to find out who they will play in the post season.

The Kettering Medical Center is proud to be the official title sponsor of the Gems for the 2010-11 season.
