BOWIE, Md. - The Curve offense battled all night long, erasing two separate three-run deficits, but still fell shy in the series-opening game in Bowie, 7-6. Willy Garcia hit two homers in the loss for the Curve for his second multi-homer game of the season and third of his career. With his two homers on Monday night, he's now tied with Curve first baseman Stetson Allie for the team lead.

The Curve spotted Bowie a three-run lead in the first inning when Joan Montero allowed three runs (two earned) while facing eight. Dariel Alvarez drove home the first run of the game before an error by Garcia in right on a single by Chris Marrero allowed Christian Walker to score from first. Marrero, who ended up at second as a result of the error as well, scored on Michael Ohlman's groundout to make it, 3-0.

Garcia and the Curve answered in the second when the Curve right fielder hit the first of his two homers, a two-run shot to the opposite field. Alen Hanson ended up delivering the game-tying hit later in the inning when he singled to score Jarek Cunningham.

Bowie answered with two unearned runs in the bottom of the inning. Hanson committed a throwing error on a ball hit by Garabez Rosa to start the inning and he, along with K.D. Kang, would later score off Montero as Bowie reclaimed the lead.

They'd add another to open up a, 6-3, lead before the Curve would score again. Elias Diaz smacked a solo homer in the fifth to bring the Curve within two. It was Diaz's fifth home run of the season, which ties his career-high. All five home runs have come away from Peoples Natural Gas Field.

In the sixth, Garcia hit a solo shot to start the inning off Anthony Vasquez, who'd take a no decision, and made it a one-run game. Drew Maggi delivered the game-tying hit to score Cunningham later in the inning to even the tilt at six.

Niuman Romero immediately un-tied it in the bottom of the inning with a two-out double off Emmanuel de Leon (1-2) to make it, 7-6.

That run proved to be enough as the Curve never cracked the scoreboard the rest of the way. They had leadoff men on in the seventh and eighth innings but squandered both opportunities.

Cunningham, Hanson and Garcia each had two-hit games in the loss. Keon Broxton also registered a multi-hit game, his first since June 6.

In his fourth start of the season, Montero took a no decision after allowing six runs (three earned) across five innings. Altoona finishes the month of June 9-18.

The Curve (29-53) aim to end the four-game losing streak Tuesday night at 6:35 p.m. when they meet the Baysox (45-38) in the second game of the series. LHP Joely Rodriguez (4-6, 4.21) will throw in the second game of the series for the Curve on Tuesday night. He'll be opposed by Baysox LHP Tim Berry (4-4, 4.03).

Airtime on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
