
Fightins Storm Back to Victory

Reading Fightin Phils News Release
The Reading Fightin Phils (34-45) ended their 12-game losing streak in comeback fashion as they stormed back from a 6-1 deficit to win 7-6 over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (37-45). A five-run 6th inning helped propel the comeback for the Fightin Phils and are now 10-4 against New Hampshire this season.
The Fisher Cats got on the scoreboard first with a RBI single from Mike McDade off Severino Gonzalez in the top of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Reading tied the game in the bottom of the 1st off Scott Copeland on a RBI groundout by Kelly Dugan.
New Hampshire took a 2-1 lead off Gonzalez on a sacrifice fly by Kevin Nolan to score Cory Aldridge. The Fisher Cats extended their lead to 5-1 off Gonzalez in the top of the 3rd inning as Andy Burns hit a three-run home run to score Matt Newman and Mike McDade. New Hampshire added another run in the top of the 6th inning as Jon Berti scored on an error by Carlos Alonso to take a 6-1 lead.
Severino Gonzalez left after five innings as he allowed five runs (three earned) off eight hits and one walk with one strikeouts.
Reading stormed back in the bottom of the 6th inning off Copeland to tie the game at 6-6. Kelly Dugan hit a RBI double which was followed by a RBI double from Aaron Altherr. Brock Stassi hit a two-run triple and KC Serna hit into a suicide squeeze to score Stassi for the tying run.
Jake Fox broke the 6-6 tie with two outs in the bottom of the 7th inning as he hit a RBI single off reliever Scott Gracey (3-4) to score Peter Lavin to give the Fightins a 7-6 lead.
Kyle Simon (2-1) pitched three solid innings to earn the win as he allowed an unearned run in the top of the 6th inning and gave up two hits with one walk. Matt Hoffman (1) earned the save as he struck out three batters in the top of the 9th inning and allowed one walk.
The Fightin Phils and New Hampshire Fisher Cats meet tomorrow afternoon at 12:05 pm at FirstEnergy Stadium. Hoby Milner (5-3, 3.81 ERA) will be on the mound for Reading.
