Adirondack Thunder News Release

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: Tonight's matchup is the eleventh meeting between divisional rivals the Adirondack and Reading and caps off a back to back set between the teams this weekend at the Glens Falls Civic Center. The Royals won a close contest last evening as they beat the Thunder in a shootout for a final score of 5-4. The teams will meet one more time this season, on March 13th, which will be played at the Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, NY.

THE CURADI KID: Defenseman Luke Curadi got in on the scoring action as his shorthanded tally early in the third period was nearly enough to earn the Thunder a win. Curadi's goal, his second of the season, marked Adirondack's sixth shorthanded goal of the season. The 6'5" defenseman also had the opportunity to shoot in the shootout but was denied by Reading netminder Connor Knapp in the fifth round.

MARC MY WORDS: Winger Louick Marcotte found the back of the net again on Saturday, the fourth straight game in which the winger has scored. Marcotte collected two multi-goal games last weekend and followed it up by lighting the lamp in each of the last two games for a total of six goals over the four-game span. If the Longueuil, PQ finds the back of the net again in today's game, he will tie Rob Bordson's team record of 5 straight games with a goal.

FAT ALBER: Defenseman Patch Alber has piled up the assists as of late with nine helpers during the month of February. With a helper last night, following multi-assist nights in his previous two games, Alber has taken over the assist lead amongst Thunder defensemen with 21, passing teammate Ryan Constant (18). The Clifton Park native is now just one helper shy of Michael Kirkpatrick for the overall team lead.

KIRKPATRICK OR TREAT: Michael Kirkpatrick found the back of the net for the third time in the last four games on Saturday with his 22nd goal of the season, a power-play marker. In addition to leading the Thunder in goals and assists, he now leads the team in power play points as well with 15 (8-7-15), breaking a tie with defenseman Ryan Constant. The North Sydney, NS native leads all ECHL rookies in goals, and is fifth in total points.

JUST DREW IT: Thunder netminder Drew Fielding faced his share of shots in last evening's tilt, with a 40-save effort. Since he returned to the Thunder late last week, Fielding has made 40 or more saves in three of the four games he's started. Fielding has helped the team earn 4 points over the last week with a 1-1-0-2 in his four starts. The Burlington, ONT native is 6-2-2 with the Thunder this season posting a stellar 1.74 GAA to go along with an as equally impressive .948 SV%.
