INDEPENDENCE, MISSOURI - The Missouri Mavericks shutout the visiting Rapid City Rush 3-0 on Sunday night at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena. Steven Summerhays stopped all 18 of the Rush's shots on goal, recording his first professional career shutout between the pipes.
Andrew Courtney was honored in a pre-game ceremony for recently surpassing a 300-game milestone with the Missouri Mavericks. General Manager Brent Thiessen presented him with a commemorative jersey before the start of the game.

The Mavericks opened the scoreboard at 9:35 of the first period when Ross Johnston redirected the puck past goaltender Sam Marotta. Matt Finn and Rocco Carzo were credited with the assists on Johnston's fouth goal of the season for the Mavs.
Missouri held their 1-0 lead through to the end of second frame until David de Kastrozza scored 2:35 into the final period with the help of Trevor Ludwig and Reed Seckel. Tyler Barnes then expanded the home team's lead to 3-0 at 17:04 with a lone assist to Josh Holmstrom to seal a Mavericks victory.
This is Summerhays' second win in a Mavericks sweater since being acquired by Missouri on Feb. 18, 2016.
The Mavericks overall record improves to 44-7-3-1 (92 points) atop the ECHL standings.
The Mavericks play their next game at home on Friday, Mar. 4 against the Wichita Thunder. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05p.m. at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena.
