Adirondack Thunder News Release

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: Tonight's matchup is the third and final meeting between Adirondack and South Carolina and concludes a three-in-three set for the Thunder. Adirondack is coming into South Carolina on a high note after a thrilling overtime win last evening in Norfolk.

WORKING OVERTIME: The Thunder went to overtime for the first time this season against Norfolk and came away with a crucial 4-3 road victory, thanks to Mathieu Brodeur's game winning goal. The win ended a stretch for the Thunder without an overtime win that dated back to early November, when Rob Bordson scored an OT winner in Kalamazoo on November 4.

PLAYOFF PREVIEW: If the ECHL Standings were to finish as they sit today, tonight's matchup would serve as a Kelly Cup Playoff preview. Adirondack currently sits fifth in the Eastern Conference with 70 points, two points shy of fifth seeded South Carolina. The two teams split their first two meetings at the Glens Falls Civic Center back in January, as Adirondack ended the back-to-back with a 4-2 win on January 9.

CAILHOUSE ROCK: Thunder head coach Cail MacLean returns to South Carolina as a visiting coach for the first time since he was a part of the Stingrays organization from 2005-2011 as a player, assistant coach and head coach. MacLean helped lead the Stingrays to the 2009 Kelly Cup as an assistant coach and skated three seasons as a player, where he collected 137 points (63-74-137) in 169 games played.

ROLL OUT THE WELCOME MAT: Blueliner Mathieu Brodeur scored his first career ECHL overtime goal last night in the Thunder's 4-3 OTW in Norfolk. Brodeur, who also collected an assist last night, has been hot as of late with eight points (2-6-8) over his past eight games played, to go along with a +5 rating. The Laval, PQ native also picked up his second game winning goal of the season, with the first coming on Opening Night in Elmira in October.

SILENCE OF THE LOMBS: Forward Ryan Lomberg led the Thunder last night with three points (2-1-3), including the game-tying goal with less than 30 seconds to play in regulation. Lomberg tied a career high in both goals (2) and points (3) and now has 23 points (12-11-23) in 28 ECHL games this season. The Stockton Heat send down's first goal also broke an eight game goalless drought, which dated back to February 14.

BIG MAC ATTACK: Forward Peter MacArthur continued his hot run of form as he joined Lomberg in the three-point club with a goal and two assists. The Clifton Park native opened the scoring with a first-period goal and went on to assist on both of Lomberg's regulation tallies. MacArthur now has 11 points (2-9-11) over his last seven games, including a pair of three-point efforts.
