Mallards Notes
Last Night
Zach Budish scored once and added two assists and Jack Downing piled up four assists as the Cincinnati Cyclones built a 6-0 lead on the way to a 6-2 victory over the host Mallards Friday night.
Race
Despite last night's defeat the Mallards remain in third place in the ECHL's Midwest Division and ninth place in the Western Conference. The Mallards are still four points behind the eighth place Tulsa Oilers- who hold the final playoff spot in the conference- and are still one point ahead of the tenth place Indy Fuel after both Tulsa and Indy also lost last night.
Home Sweet Home
The Mallards have gone 3-3-0 over the first six games of the seven-game homestand- their longest homestand of the season- that ends tonight.
On the Road Again
After tonight the Mallards play their next six games on the road.
Too Little, Too Late
The Mallards were blanked last night until Matt Neal scored the first Mallard goal with 6:12 left in the game. Matt Carey added the second Mallard goal with 15 seconds remaining.
Red Light District
The Mallards have allowed five or more goals in three of their last five games.
Finishing Kick
The Mallards have outscored the opposition 55-49 in the third this season. The third is the only period in which the Mallards have outscored their foes. Over the first two periods they have allowed 108 goals while scoring 89 times.

Between the Pipes
Brody Hoffman made 25 saves while suffering the loss in goal last night. Last night's appearance was Hoffman's sixteenth in the Mallards' last nineteen games.
Leader of the Pack
Carey, who had an assist to go with his goal last night, has produced 19 points (ten goals and nine assists) in his last 15 games and has scored a team-leading 18 goals this season.
Rook
Neal, who has eight points (two goals and six assists) in his last eight games, leads the Mallards in points (38) is tied with Mike Monfredo for the team lead in assists (24) and ranks tenth among ECHL rookies in point-scoring.
Debut
Jordan Knackstedt made his Mallard debut last night after being acquired in a trade with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits Wednesday.
Special Teams
The Mallards have given up nine goals on their opponents' last 20 power plays and have failed to convert any of their last 13 man advantages. They are now tied for fifteenth in the ECHL in penalty killing (83.6) and rank seventeenth on the power play (15.9 percent).
Milestones
Darren McMillan has played three hundred ninety-nine career games for the Mallards. Should he play tonight, he will join Patrick Nadeau (456) and Hugo Proulx (437) as the third player in Mallards history to play 400 games for the team. McMillan has also played 199 career ECHL games...Vladimir Nikiforov has 291 career points.
Head to Head
The Mallards have gone 3-0-1 against the Thunder this season and have gone 2-0-0 against Wichita at the iWireless Center. The clubs will clash a total of seven times. The Mallards have gone 16-17-2 all-time against Wichita and have gone 9-8-1 at home.
Ins and Outs
The Mallards Wednesday acquired forward Jordan Knackstedt from the Greenville Swamp Rabbits in exchange for future considerations...Tanner Eberle (upper body) was placed on 21-day injured reserve retroactive to February 5. He has missed ten games.
