INDIANAPOLIS - The Cincinnati Cyclones rode a pair of goals 10 seconds apart early in the second period to a 5-1 win over the Indy Fuel Saturday night at Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
Leading 1-0 after a Nick Huard power play goal in the opening frame, Christiaan Minella and Zach Budish scored goals just 10 seconds apart starting at 5:07 of the second period to chase Fuel starter Mac Carruth (12 saves, L) and open up a 3-0 lead.
Midway through the third period with Indy on a power play the team pulled goaltender Keegan Asmundson (14 saves, 1 GA) for the extra attacker only to see Seth Ambroz put the puck into the empty net for a shorthanded marker to make it 4-0.
Cincinnati would net a second shorthanded goal later in the period as Jack Downing scored his 27th of the year from Tommy Mele at 15:31.
Sam Jardine broke Andy Iles' shutout bid (30 saves) with a goal at 16:39 from Trevor Campbell and Peter Schneider for the 5-1 final.
The Fuel get back to action on Mascot Mania night this Friday when they host the Evansville IceMen at 7:35 pm. The Morellis Cleaners Indy Fuel pregame show starts 15 minutes prior to puck drop on CBS Sports 1430.
